The Next Web Conference was, like Ernst-Jan Pfauth called it, one rocking conference! Too bad I couldn’t be there this year, but it was great to follow the conference via the stream at their website.

Before the show started everyone was thrilled and the stakes where high. Some startups where a bit disappointing but far the most of it was worth joining the conference. One of my favorite startups, Wakoopa, eventually won a Next Web Award. Great job guys, you deserve it! Read more »

Applications like LinkedIn never really got me going, until I started using it’s full potential. LinkedIn is a premium quality networking-tool, which is free to use, has tons of fancy features to use and connects you to new prospects, contacts and other people to do business with.

LinkedIn Profile

Once I started using the full potential of LinkedIn, I discovered a simple yet functional world that’s based on meeting new people and keeping in touch with relations and customers. Using LinkedIn can be a real boost of your career.

I was stunned when one of my connections contacted me via LinkedIn, which lead to a new assignment! The effort I had put in creating a quality LinkedIn profile paid of, in the first week of using LinkedIn! Read more »

Normally I’m not into gaming, but Lego Universe has something that makes my mind go around. Old times live on again. Who hasn’t played with Lego when you were in your childhood?

Toymaker Lego is trying to make the company stand out of the crowd, by implementing some features in the new to develop game, by merging the real world with the virtual reality world.

Players are able to customly build their Lego-creations in the game and afterwards they can order the creation to be build and delivered in real life! This is quite unique, I’ve never seen it in any other game! Read more »

Is there a single person in the world, that has never heard about Geert Wilders’ plan to make a anti-Koran movie? The news got worldwide known in the past few weeks and Wilders has already been threatened to get killed once he publishes his movie!

What is it, that keeps Wilders pushing forward to fight for his opinion and make a (political) statement? Is it really worth getting killed, which is most likely, to show your opinion to the world? Everyone can have his or her opinion, but is it worth to risk your life for that?

I think Wilders is only trying to make a point and show the world how single minded the world is. Wilders can cause so much trouble in the world, just by saying that he will create a anti-Koran movie, what will happen to the lost soul that actually will publish such a movie? Read more »

On the great blog Problogger, a guest blogger asked the question; “Have blogs killed conventional websites“? To me, it’s pretty obvious why blogs have much more influence on the internet. We do need to keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to all blogs.

Most blogs won’t reach the status successful. But the blogs that do reach that status, have lots of people following, reading and interacting with the blog. And interaction is the keyword, which is why blogs have more influence and why blogs are more popular than conventional websites. Read more »

Imagine yourself working on your blog, from day to day. Struggling to find your way into the blogosphere and fighting for your existence. Many blogs will not survive the battle, but a few will survive. Large companies that interact with the bloggers (that write about them) can have great value for a blogger.

Yesterday, the blog The Next Web wrote a review about Blippr. Today, I found the next article in my RSS-reader which told me that Blippr gave 250 beta-invites to the readers of The Next Web. This is a great move from the guys at Blippr, more companies should interact with bloggers like this!

The readers of The Next Web have read the article yesterday and perhaps they are interested. If they visit the blog again today, they will find themselves a way to actually use and try the product. No doubt they will get enthusiastic and try it immediately (at least I did)! Read more »

Most visitors that enter a site on a specific page, don’t read the page (completely). Instead, they will scan the page for something they are looking for, or something they find interesting. If they don’t find anything that is worth taking some time to read, the page will be closed and the visitor is lost in cyberspace.

This event can be quite a frustration to a webdeveloper or content writer. You do want your visitors to actually read your content, not just scan around and leave the page again. In order to do this, you have to grab the visitors attention in the first few seconds of their visit.

Reading Content On Platform

In my previous articles, I’ve mentioned this before. In this article, we’re actually going to improve your pages and content. This will improve the time visitors spend on your pages, it will improve your popularity and besides that you can improve your income (if you want to earn money via the internet). Read more »
