SEONoobs.com is one of the blogs that got popular instantly once it was launched. Lots of big and well known weblogs linked to the new kid on the block and this gave the weblog a head start. The content of the weblog is great, they write informative articles that cover a lot of SEO-topics. But the text itself isn’t the problem, it’s the way the markup has been done.

Some content on SEONoobs.com looks like a crowded marketplace. You see a lot, but you can’t decide where to start reading. Take the post about the importance of keywords in domain names as example. This post has zero headings (besides the title) and there is no other way scanning readers can tell what a paragraph will contain.
People don’t have time to find out what a article is about
They just want to know it, instantly. Most people will close the site immediatly once they see such content like the article stated above. Well, at least I did. The title of the article is the only help, to let us know what the article is about.
The article contains 9 paragraphs, 48 sentences, 692 words and does not contain a single form of markup (besides the paragraphs). I wonder how many people take the time to read trough the article, just to find out what in it.
Why is the weblog so succesful?
Seriously, I don’t believe people will read the type of content I mentioned before. But still, the weblog grew to almost 350 subscribers in the first month they’re online. More statistics are available (in better formatted content).
Like I said before, the quality of the content is good, real good. The only problem they have, is a lack of markup in most of their articles. For a SEO weblog, that might not be the most important, but for a weblog with great ambitions it should be.
SEONoobs.com organised a SEO contest with lots of good looking prices, no doubt that the contest attracted lots of readers. Im curious what will happen to the amount of subscribers, once the contest is over.

So true, it’s a pity that such a great weblog, fails to make texts scannable…
Yeah, the content is great, but it takes some real effort to be able to read it properly…
What’s up Webhypes,
Thank you for the critique, I do appreciate it. Sometimes I do get markup lazy, and although it hasn’t seemed to affect readership much, I’ll make it a goal to make it more scannable for easy referencing.
Best of luck to you, and keep up the great work yourself!
Ryan
Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to your next post, hope to see that the markup worked out properly! Good luck with your blog, hope to see you again.

good luck ry!
Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m trying to show the world in this article. The blog is great, superb, but some content could use a markup make-over.
