Some people find it hard to start and maintain a single blog. But as always, we have the people that want to do a little extra. Maintaining more than one blog takes skill and lots of time. But it can be worth all the effort, if done properly.

Multitasking

One of the pioneers in the world of blogging, is Darren Rowse. He maintains the number one blog about blogging, Problogger.net. But besides blogging about blogging, Darren maintains a second (large!) blog about digital photography at Digital Photography School.

Yes, Darren is a fulltime blogger, but at the same time a wonderful example of how to maintain multiple blogs at the same time.

Dedication, lots of effort and patience

To maintain multiple blogs at the same time, you need to have lots of time that for sure. But besides having lots of time to spend on writing articles, managing comments and do other stuff that bloggers do, you will have to plan your time like madness in order to make your blogs be worth it!

If you’re planning on going for the big bucks, it isn’t smart to start of with more than one blog. For a fulltime blogger, yes you can do this, but most of the people that start new blogs are relatively new to the blogosphere and will not have that much time to spend on blogging.

Keep your head cool

Once you start blogging at insane speeds, have tons of great ideas for new articles and have the time to work on your blogs, go for it. But be aware, keep your head cool. It’s not that easy and having to work to hard and not having enough time for other businesses is the main reason why I abandoned my Dutch blog.

But I’m considering to start blogging on my Dutch blog again, after a pretty large restyling of the design. We’ll see. Now it’s up to you to show what you’re doing in the blogosphere, what kind of blogger are you?

The stressed, I-need-more-posts-blogger? Or the laid back, we’ll-see-where-it-all-ends-blogger? Remember to stay the way you are, it’s the best way to make it to the top!
