Ever wondered about the amount of Wordpress plugins that is available to the world, absolutely for free? Not even to mention, the amount of Wordpress plugins that are created for real money. I believe it’s possible to stuff an installation of Wordpress with such a large amount of compatible plugins, that it collapses under it’s own weight.

A post at Joost de Valk, where he’s looking for SEO aware Wordpress developers, put my brains at work about ‘what Wordpress plugins haven’t been created yet?’. Are there people that are in desperate need for a plugin, that nobody likes to develop?
Quality, original plugins
As I asked some people, the only answer I got was that the world does need plugins. But there isn’t a specific demand to plugins, but people always seem to like quality plugins which are based on a original idea.
Perhaps someone walks around with a clever idea for a Wordpress plugin, but doesn’t know how to develop a plugin. And it is likely that someone else suffers on exactly the opposite, great skill to develop a plugin, but a lack of ideas.
Share your ideas and knowledge
If you are one of the two types I’m describing above, please share you’re ideas or knowledge with the rest of the world. Your ideas or knowledge combined with the opposite can be a real powerful combination!
I’m not saying that there is a great demand for new plugins, but once a new idea is born it’s always a matter of days before the entire internet knows about the idea. If the idea is good, this could be the start of a promising career in developing plugins and perhaps even more!
It wouldn’t be the first example of a developer to get a great job, who is discovered via the open source community!

I do have two new plugins out of four that I developed that people seem to respond well to. The only problem is if you are popular enough so that others know about them. If you check http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins you’ll surely notice which two are they.
