Millions of blogs in the world and every day hundreds of new blogs are launched. It takes skill and a piece of luck if you want to stand out of the crowd and make your blog succesful. But with a quality blog and some authority in the blogosphere, there are more options for you to think about.

Imagine yourself as an artist, I mentioned this before in “Blogging is like being an artist“. Today, there are lots of people who hire bloggers to work (and create content) for them. This could be a great chance for you as a blogger, to promote yourself and let people hire you.
Show people, that they can hire you
Your own blog is an excellent spot to start promoting your own services. Skellie wrote an outstanding post over at Anywired, in which she describes what to keep in mind when you write your own ‘hire me’-page.
Without having a proper ‘hire-me’-page, people won’t even notice your services are available to hire. An ‘about me’-page just isn’t enough, only interested people will read the entire story and people who are looking for bloggers to hire, might not even notice that you’re available!
What’s important to let prospects know?
The 7 key points you should keep in mind, while writing your own ‘hire me’-page according to Skellie are shown below. I’ve added a few extra lines to explain a little more.
- Tell prospects who you are, because it’s all about the person behind the keyboard. Writing articles really comes down to the person and the persons opinion about several subjects. Personality is of great importance in blogging.
- Tell prospects how you can give them what they want, because they want to know everything about it. Most prospects
- Show off your best work and capitalize on social proof with genuine testimonials. People tend to look what you can do, before actually contacting you. Your blog is propably the first thing that will be read, next is the content you’ve written for other sites. Make sure that you link to content that you’re proud of and that really shows what you’re capable of.
- Make it clear who you’re targeting (and who you aren’t). It can save you some time spending on emails that don’t give you any work at all. If you’re not interested in writing about the same subjects as you do on your own blog(s), you should write it down. Clear and simple!
- Show that you’re experienced by sharing favorable credibility indicators. People like to read what you’re capable of, so show that kind of thing. Your articles are like a portfolio for an artist!
- If your rates are fixed, list them up front. Money is one of the most important things in todays bussinesses and people like to know what your rates are before contacting you. If your rates are variable, write it down.
- Always provide a means of contact on the same page. This makes it easy for prospects to contact you. It should be easy and straight forward, do not let prospects break their brains while trying to contact you.
Why don’t you have a ‘hire me’-page?
Things have been going pretty fast lately, so I have to keep my blogging work a little bit down. As I’m pretty enthousiastic about blogging, I would consider every serious request but I’m not going to promote my services in such a crowded period.
Once things cool down a bit, I might consider writing my own ‘hire me’-page.
A few thoughts aside
In search engine optimization, not only are web hosting matters important but domain names matter too. Then of course marketing steps like ppc make a lot of difference.
