The costs of a advertisement are connected to the position and the frequency of displaying the advertisement. Off course, a banner in het header costs a lot more to display, than a banner in the footer of the same website. More people will notice the banner in the header, so it is likely more people will click on it, causing more income and so the circle is complete.

Every website you visit, every weblog you read, advertisements are everywhere. Thinking about it makes me wonder about the ugly and rude positioned advertisements control a lot of sites today. Advertisers do everything they can, to make advertisements as attractive as they can, to make people click on it. But the amount of clicks is also affected by the position of the advertisement.
Irritation
How many times a day does a website show a irritating banner, in the center of the screen, blocking half of the content you were reading? Thanks to the new browsers and ad-blockers, this number is greatly decreasing, but this all made the internet user of today fed up with advertisements.
Due to the large amount of irritating andannoying advertisements, people don’t want to click on well positioned advertisements, because they are scared of more popups and other browser-panic. The clicks on good advertisements have to suffer from the behavior of bad advertisements.
What makes a good positioned advertisment?
Well, having looked at how we shouldn’t position our advertisements, it’s time to look how we should. A properly positioned ad, does not distract the visitor from reading the content. Blogs usually do have great advertisement-positioning, in the sidebar where they don’t bother if you don’t need them.
The opinion of the people who visit the website, is very important in this entire proces. If loads of visitors complain about a certain banner and it’s not critical to lose the income, get rid of it or reposition it. When people find a certain thing irritating on a website, it is likely they won’t come back again.

Some ads really are annoying! but I can imagine that annoying ads will get more clicks. Hmm, interesting.
Yeah, but the more annoying the advertisement is, the more visitors a website will lose because of it. It’s important to find a correct balance between these two factors.
